I am LaShonda Prim, a disabled Army combat veteran, owner of Dream Essentials Skin and body care company and Empire Nutrition.
I teach other disabled women how to turn their struggles into a duffle by showing them how to have a changed mindset, escape poverty and create products and service that will allow them to live the life they desire. Women with disabilities make up only 1.5 percent of the workforce, despite being 4 percent of the overall population. Women with disabilities face both stereotypes about people with disabilities in the workplace and women in the workplace. Both women and persons with disabilities are generally viewed as less capable in the workplace, making them less likely to be hired or promoted. I was unable to maintain employment as a soldier in the US Army and with the Dept of Defense due to the rare stress induced medical conditions I have called non epileptic seizure, Intracranial Hypertension and vasovagal syncope. Combined with depression and anxiety I was the employee they couldn’t fire but they made it known I wasn’t working to their standards by the way I was treated. Not all of my supervisors were like this however, the higher powers that were definitely made it hard on them until it became hard on me. As they say, we all know that po💩op rolls down hill and the last person at the bottom gets it the worst. Women veterans experience a number of disabilities, including migraines, depression, back pain, trauma and even bronchial asthma due to time in service. As women with disabilities overall we must stand together when others stand against us. With that being said I would like to help at least 1000 disabled women and disabled female veterans create a product or service that will generate income and take them from living in the restrictions of poverty levels into the overflow of more than enough. Nothing can hold us back so It’s time to take back our super power!
